Dear Nigel Fine,

After being silenced for 50 years [Note 1] since my IEEE 20pp in 1967 http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/x147.pdf , my work is now discussed in the Royal Society and the IEEE, admittedly not including “The Catt Question” cattq http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/cattq.htm , which remains silenced by the IEE. An exception was that my co-author Dr. Arnold Lynch, who gave the keynote evening speech in the IEE to celebrate the centenary of JJ Thomson’s discovery of the electron, “because JJ Thomson told me about it”, as he told me, published on cattq in the IEE,

http://www.electromagnetism.demon.co.uk/y7aiee.htm ; http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/x5bu.htm

There has also been my four hour lecture in Newcastle University. http://async.org.uk/IvorCatt+DavidWalton.html , which included cattq.

It would be so much better for all of us if you could organise something positive between me and the IEE/IET. One of many possibilities is that you choose your leading expert on electromagnetic theory and put him in touch with me. http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/cattq.htm . Twenty-five years ago your predecessor chose Professor Secker, who withdrew, claiming a lack of sufficient expertise for cattq http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/28anom.htm , although the matter is very simple. “Secker wrote on 26oct95; ‘I should explain that I am no expert in the area to which the 'Catt Anomaly' [cattq] refers..... He repeated this claim on 19dec95.

I would dearly love the first full disclosure of “Theory D”. http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/d.htm to be by the IET, in my home country, bringing electromagnetic theory into the digital age. http://www.ivorcatt.org/digital-hardware-design.htm

Royal Society on Catt. http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/yak.htmthat there is no such a thing as a static electric field in a capacitor.”

IEEE on “The Catt Question”. http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/x311a.htm

There has also been my four hour lecture in Newcastle University. http://async.org.uk/IvorCatt+DavidWalton.html , which included cattq. “There is an edited version of Ivor Catt's talk covering just the 'The Wakefield Experiment' and 'The Catt Question' which is 20 minutes long available here.

Yours sincerely,

Ivor Catt

Note 1. Admittedly once, in an IEE journal Dettmer did publish commentary on “Catt Spiral”, the product called “Wafer Stack” after it had come to market with acclaim.  Apart from that, the IEE always refused to publish any commentary on the company Clive Sinclair set up, called “Anamartic”, to develop the Catt invention, the only successful approach to WSI. (Other unsuccessful attempts absorbed more than $100 million.) http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/spectator.htm

Every decade or so I approach IEE luminaries and ask them to resolve the problem called “The Catt Anomaly”, more properly called “The Catt Question”. This is a rudimentary question in classical electrodynamics which the IEE said came within its responsibility, see Secker in the first part of p11 of the book The Catt Anomaly, shelf number 537.8CAT in the IEE library. It can also be found on the www at www.ivorcatt.com/28anom.htm

It is by now clear that the IEE lacks technical competence in this field, and also that it lacks access to technical competence in the field of classical electrodynamics. However, a duty remains, to convene a conference, as proposed on p55 et seqq. of the same book. There was no reply from the IEE to the 1995 Hock letter.

I look forward to your reply.

Dear Mr Catt

Thank you for your recent letter. The IEE looked into the Catt Anomaly problem some years ago and I do not believe it would be an appropriate subject for a conference. [http://www.ivorcatt.co.uk/91.htm ]

Yours sincerely
