To whom it may concern.

I have known Mr. Ivor Catt of 121 Westfields, St. Albans AL3 4JR for about 15 years, and have engaged with him in scientific discussions about electromagnetic theory, the propagation of scientific knowledge, and other subjects, over the whole period.

In October 2007, he was taken ill and was admitted to several hospitals. His condition deteriorated, and he was in the Intensive Care Unit of the Watford Genera Hospital for 3 months in 2008. He was critically ill during this time, and was in intermittent coma for several days. I visited him approximately weekly during this period. Nevertheless, he has recovered completely physically (he goes on walks), as well as intellectually. He can think just about as sharply as he could before his illnesses. Indeed, he is still engaging in correspondence with journal editors and other scientists on abstruse points of electromagnetic theory - as he has been doing for the last 30 years. Everyone, including me has beebn astonished and admiring of his complete intellectual and physical recovery.
